July 7, 2024, has marked a remarkable day in the history of the French people, as the entire nation is now aware of a new leadership following a heated four weeks of political uncertainty.
Le Nouveau Front Populaire is a political alliance made up of: La France Insoumise, the Socialist Party, the Ecologists and the French Communist Party formed on June 10, 2024, to blockade Le Rassemblée Nationale from their tremendous popularity across major localities in the nation and to contest against the ‘Majorité Présidentielle’ – the political party headed by Emmanuel Macron and his allies. The main program of NFP is but not limited to:
. Scrapping the 2023 French pension reform law,
. Increasing minimum wage by 14%,
. Increasing purchasing power in France, among others. Their program indicates that, funds will be generated from the reintroduction of weath-tax, cancelling several tax breaks for the wealthy and introducing the progressive tax system.
The second round of the legislative elections saw the defeat of ‘Le Rassemblée Nationale(RN)’- a Far Right Political wing which only appeared third after Le ‘Nouveau Front Populaire(NFP)’ and ‘Majorité Présidentielle(MP)’ in that order.

Following the victory of NFP, prime minister Gabriel Attal on July 8, 2024, tendered-in his resignation, but was however retained by Emmanuel Macron to occupy the post for the time being, meanwhile an official candidate will be selected by the allies of the NFP political party to assume the position of prime minister
Although the dust has been settled on the elections, much is still far to be desired as the fight for who to govern continues between the presidential camp and the new legislative winners
