Hon. Agho Oliver has been elected 2nd Vice President of the African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) at its 11th session in Uganda. The forum, taking place from the 6-11 April, at the Commonwealth Convention Centre in Munyono, Uganda, brings together leaders and experts to discuss sustainable development and economic growth in Africa.
Going by experts ,Oliver’s election marks a significant milestone for Cameroon and the Central African sub-region, which had a turn to occupy the 2nd vice presidency. The ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, including Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
WHO IS HON.AGHO OLIVER?
Hon. Agho Oliver is a dedicated and dynamic public servant and one of Cameroon ‘s youngest members of Parliament with a background in advocacy. He’s championed African elected officials’ efforts to address debt and development challenges. His work focuses on promoting accountability, good governance, transparency and inclusive decision-making in Africa’s development processes.He is the member of Parliament for Bufut-Tubah constituency in Mezam division,NWR of Cameroon.
The 11th session of ARFSD aims to: Review progress on the 2030; Agenda and Agenda 2063;
strengthen learning and advocacy for effective policy measures; foster partnerships for sustainable development; and prepare Africa’s collective input for the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the Second World Summit for Social Development.
This election is a testament to Oliver’s leadership and commitment to sustainable development in Africa. His role will help shape the continent’s development agenda and foster cooperation among member states.
