AL-UMMAH Higher Institute of Health Management and Technology, Yaoundé, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Bamenda in a significant step towards strengthening quality higher education and professional training in Cameroon.
The signing ceremony, which took place at the University of Bamenda campus in Bambili, brought together officials from both institutions and marked the formal affiliation of the private higher institution with one of the country’s leading state universities.
The event was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, Professor Theresia Nkuo-Akenji, alongside representatives of AL-UMMAH Higher Institute Buba Amadou Jalo. The Vice Chancellor described the partnership as a positive development that reflects the University’s commitment to one of its core missions—training competent citizens and supporting quality higher education institutions across the nation.

Speaking after the ceremony, Mr. Buba Amadou Jalo, Director of Marketing and Communications of AL-UMMAH Higher Institute of Professional Studies, expressed his excitement over the milestone. According to him, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding comes shortly after the institution received legal authorization from the Ministry of Higher Education, thereby fulfilling all the necessary requirements to operate as a recognised higher education institution in Cameroon.
“This partnership signifies that we are now on the right footing. Students can confidently enrol in our institution knowing that they will obtain genuine and recognised certificates supervised by the University of Bamenda,” he said.
Mr. Jalo explained that AL-UMMAH Higher Institute is located in Mendong Descente Maeture in Yaoundé, just after the Gendarmerie, and offers professional programmes in Health Sciences, Technology, Management, Business and Finance, as well as Education. He further noted that the institution prides itself on affordable tuition fees and a conducive learning environment designed to help students excel academically and professionally.

He emphasized that many students in the past suffered the consequences of enrolling in institutions that lacked legal recognition, often completing their studies without obtaining valid certificates. The recent legalization by the Ministry of Higher Education and the signing of the MoU with the University of Bamenda, he said, provide students and parents with total assurance regarding the credibility and quality of the institution.
“Being affiliated with the University of Bamenda means that our academic programmes and operations will be supervised by the University. It is almost like being an extension of the University of Bamenda, ensuring that we maintain the highest standards required in higher education,” he added.
The partnership is expected to enhance academic excellence, institutional credibility, and professional training opportunities for students aspiring to build successful careers in various disciplines.
AL-UMMAH Higher Institute of Health Management and Technology operates in partnership with AL-UMMAH NewTech Training Center and maintains international affiliations with AL-UMMAH University College in Al-Ram, Jerusalem, and GOBESOFT Institute in Canada.
The institution comprises five schools: the School of Medical and Biomedical Sciences, the School of Management, the School of Computer Engineering, the School of Business and Finance, and the School of Education.
With its recent legal recognition and affiliation with the University of Bamenda, AL-UMMAH Higher Institute is positioning itself as one of the emerging centres for quality professional higher education in Cameroon, offering students a credible pathway to nationally recognised qualifications and career development.
