Victoria United Gave Them The Run But YOSA Triumphed

The Anglo-Saxon clash between Victoria United FC of Limbe and Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda, in the Elite one championship play-offs at the Bepanda reunification stadium annex in Douala , Monday April 1 2024,was a thrilling encounter filled with excitement and tension and fury.

The first half of the match saw Yong Sports striker Nchindo John Bosco score for YOSA in the 13th minute, giving them an early lead. This goal which was the 12th goal of the season for the YOSA captain not only set the tone for an exciting game but also ended the first half on a 1-0 scoreline in favor of the Yellow Submarines of Bamenda.

However, the second half was a different story. At the 78th minute, YOSA’s Elton extended their lead, scoring their second goal of the game. This goal solidified their dominance and left Victoria United FC trailing 0-2.

Just when it seemed as if the game was out of reach for Victoria United FC, they made a remarkable comeback.

At the 88th minute of regular play time, “Opopo” reduced the the scores through NJI Richmond’s penalty,the 14th goal for the attacker.

This goal breathed a new life into the team and brought the scores to Victoria United FC 1-2 YOSA, bringing hope and belief for the Limbe based club

Throughout the entire game, Victoria United FC received no yellow card, while YOSA received six yellow cards. Additionally, YOSA incurred several free kicks, while Victoria United FC earned a penalty.

This win for Yong Sports Academy means they are the only team yet to suffer a defeat in the ongoing playoffs.YOSA sit on top of the classification table after recording 9/9.

Unstoppable YOSA are now clear favourites to win the 2024 MTN elite One football championship in Cameroon, should they continue with their fine form in their last three matches.

Yong Sports Academy has been one of the most consistent teams in the Cameroon elite one since making their debut in 2009.

Meanwhile, Victoria United FC still has a chance to maintain its spot in the Cameroon Elite One Championship next season.
