The Mbakong community in and around Douala warmly welcomed their fon, HRM Fon Gwamula II, who is on a professional internship as a magistrate in Douala.
Community members were filled with excitement and pride as they gathered on Sunday, April 14, 2024, to welcome their traditional leader to his new place of work.
The ceremony served as a reunion for the community, bringing together old friends and acquaintances who have not seen each other for a long time. It was a time of celebration and unity, as the community members showcased the Mbakong culture through traditional dances, songs, and attire. The vibrant colors and rhythmic beats filled the air, creating an atmosphere of cultural pride and heritage.
In addition to the cultural festivities, the ceremony also provided an opportunity for the community to discuss development projects in the village.
Fon Gwamula II ,in his interview, expressed his desire to make his presence known to the Mbakong community in Douala. He emphasized the importance of open discussions and unity in order to achieve development. He also had a special message of peace for the youth, highlighting that progress can only be achieved in a peaceful environment.
Mrs. Tamasa Doris, the branch president of the Mbakong community in PK32, played a significant role in encouraging women to actively participate in cultural and developmental activities. She emphasized that these activities are not exclusive to men and urged women to take active role in shaping the future of their community.
The branch president of the Mbakong community in Bonaberi Jerum Asongwe Fontoh, expressed his joy at the turnout of his fellow villagers to honor their tradition and fon. He urged all members to register and contribute to the village’s development fund on a yearly basis. This call for unity and collective effort resonated with the community members, who pledged their support and commitment to the development of their village.
The atmosphere was filled with joy and anticipation as the sons and daughters of Mbakong residing in Douala came together for this special occasion.
