The squabbles surrounding the appointment of the new technical staff of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon is far from over!
The Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration (CCA) which is a subsidiary to the court of arbitration for sports, has just reopened old wounds via a decision made public this Tuesday, may 21, suspending the
Indomitable Lions technical staff appointed by FECAFOOT on May 8 until they deliver a final verdict on the issue.
This comes after requests from the Association of Amateur Football Clubs of Cameroon (ACFAC) for intervention to have FECAFOOT’s appointments annulled.
Barely 2 hours after CCA’s decision, FECAFOOT fired back by suspending Marc Brys and his entire technical staff appointed by the Ministry.
Following the suspension of the entire technical staff, FIFA immediately removed Marc Brys’ name from their website as head coach of Cameroon.
This is to say, since FECAFOOT does not recognize him as coach, FIFA does not either!
FIFA reaffirms that FECAFOOT is the sole authority competent to appoint the technical staff Cameroon’s national football teams as they are the official body organizing and managing football in Cameroon, this recognized by FIFA as the body responsible for all football related activities in the country as they are equally affiliated to FIFA and CAF this bound by the rules of these international bodies.
It should be noted FIFA’s rule is clear against government Interference in Football which risk a possible ban from all football related activities if found guilty.
It is now clear that FECAFOOT’s executive committee will convey an emergency meeting in the days ahead to appoint a temporary staff to take charge of the team.
All this is coming barely two weeks to crucial World Cup qualification matches against Cape Verde and Angola on June 8 and 11 respectively.
