In an inspiring conversation with knnews.info, Zion Boy, a talented musician from Bamenda, shared his remarkable journey of overcoming physical disability to pursue his passion for music.
Born Ngoh Henrich, Zion Boy’s love for music began at a young age. He started singing in class 6 and eventually entered a music studio to record his first song, “Waity I Do This Girl” in 2014. Despite facing numerous challenges, including financial constraints and societal stigma, Zion Boy persevered and continued to produce music.

Zion Boy’s music is not only a source of personal fulfillment but also a way to challenge societal norms and inspire others. “I want to show that a disabled person can do something,” he said. “I want to challenge the people outside who think that a disabled person cannot do anything.”
The musician, who has been active in the industry for over 13 years, emphasized the importance of support from his audience. “I just want people to continue to support us, to support us,” he said. “If they don’t support me, how can I work?”
Zion Boy also discussed the challenges faced by musicians in Cameroon, particularly in Bamenda. “People in Bamenda are not supportive,” he said. “We have talented artists in the northwest region, especially in Bamenda. But people don’t support them to go forward.”
Despite these challenges, Zion Boy remains optimistic about the future of music in Cameroon. “I would advise people to promote music in Cameroon,” he said. “If you have the opportunity to support your artists, to go forward, do it, you will see.”

Zion Boy is set to perform at a show on May 25th in Bamenda, which aims to promote young talent and recognize some individuals in the industry. The show will feature local artists and will be open to the public.
“I want to tell my audience that I’m Zion Boy, and I need their support,” he appealed. “Music is my talent, my passion, and my source of living. I’m trying to make a difference, and I need their help.”
Zion Boy is also a contender for the National Talent Hunt Contest, organized by the Cameroon International English Awards.

As Zion Boy continues to inspire and challenge societal norms through his music, his message is clear: disability is not inability. With hard work and determination, anyone can achieve their dreams, regardless of their physical abilities.

The show on May 25th B’da and the ongoing Talent Hunt is a proof to Zion Boy’s dedication to his craft and his commitment to promoting others in Bamenda and Cameroon. It is an event not to be missed, and an opportunity to experience the passion and energy of Zion Boy’s music live.
