Ukpa Edwin Teteh, widely known in the football community as Eddyman, offers a captivating insight into his life, a journey intricately linked to the beautiful game of football. His story is not just about personal achievements but is a testament to perseverance, dedication, and the transformative power of sports.
From his earliest memories, football has played a pivotal role in Teteh’s life. Growing up , he was immersed in a culture where football was more than just a pastime—it was a way of life. “Football became a significant part of my identity,” he recalls, reflecting on how the sport influenced his early years. His passion guided him through various stages of his education, beginning from his days in secondary school and participating in local inter-quarter competitions. However, it was during his high school years at CCAS Kumba that he truly began to shine. From 2000 to 2001, he represented his school on the football team, earning the nickname “Djanka Biaka” for his tenacity and skill on the field.

Teteh’s journey took a noteworthy turn in 2003 when he completed his Advanced Level examinations. He enrolled at the University of Buea, a decision that opened new doors for him in the world of football. It was in this vibrant environment that Teteh joined his first club, Mountain Stars S.A., during the 2003/2004 season. This marked the beginning of his professional career, where he sought to refine his skills and take his football dreams to new heights.

Over the years, his career trajectory saw him move through various clubs, each contributing to his development as a player. He transitioned to “The Post” FC before spending two productive years with Buea United FC from 2004 to 2006, competing in Division 2. His hard work and skill propelled him to Dynamic FC Buea between 2006 and 2008, where he experienced what he describes as significant growth as a player. Following that, he joined CENAJES Bamenda (the National Center of Youth & Sports) from 2009 to 2011, a period that allowed him to gain invaluable experience and further establish himself in the football arena.
Retirement.
After hanging up his boots in 2011—a decision spurred by his graduation from CENAJES—Teteh found himself at a crossroads. He understood that continuing to chase a professional playing career might not lead to fulfilling outcomes. However, he recognized a profound opportunity to make a difference by transitioning into a coaching role. “I understood that coaching would allow me to uplift individuals, strengthen families, and develop my community while giving back to my country, Cameroon, through football,” he notes, reflecting on the path he chose. Looking back, he expresses contentment with this decision, emphasizing that it aligned with his desire to impact the lives of others positively.

In his playing days, he participated in the Mini Interpools with Buea United FC in 2005 and celebrated a significant victory, winning the South West Region championship with Dynamic FC in 2008. These experiences fueled his desire to coach, as he ventured into shaping the next generation of football talent. Over the past 14 years, he has been instrumental in nurturing numerous players, guiding them into both amateur and elite clubs locally and internationally. His tenure as a coach has been decorated with various accolades from national tournaments, attesting to the success of the teams under his leadership.

Throughout his career, he has obtained multiple diplomas and certificates from revered organizations, including FECAFOOT (Cameroon Football Federation), CAF (Confederation of African Football), and FIFA, alongside numerous private training institutes. His commitment to professional development underscores his belief in the importance of continuous learning in coaching.

Reflecting on his most cherished moments, Eddyman recounts his achievements during his time with Dynamic Junior, where they emerged champions in the National Youth Tournament in 2007. The team’s subsequent success in 2008, claiming the title of South West Regional League champions with Dynamic FC, remains a highlight of his playing career.
Transitioning to coaching, Teteh’s most fulfilling experiences unfolded at Njalla Quan Sports Academy (NQSA) in Limbe, where he dedicated over six years. His last two seasons as Technical Director were particularly successful. This impressive performance culminated in a commendable run that saw them reach the semi-finals of the Mini Interpools. He continued this trend of success with ISOHSA Limbe during the 2023/2024 season, celebrating a victorious season as champions of the National Elite 2 playoffs.
After starting his coaching career with Little Foot FC, has had coaching spells with Dynamic FC, Prisons FC, NQSA amongst others.
Advice to Young Players

Teteh holds a profound belief that aspiring players should honour God Almighty for the talents bestowed upon them. He encourages them to seek their divine purpose, which, in turn, enables them to be valuable to themselves and their communities. “True success lies in improving their surroundings and uplifting those around them,” he often shares with the younger generation, emphasizing the importance of principles such as the fear of God, discipline, and hard work.
Challenges
His football journey was not without its challenges. Teteh recalls the difficulties he faced during his playing days, particularly the lack of early opportunities to showcase his talent and the limited resources available to him. Coming from Ekombe Liongo in the Bamusso Subdivision and attending secondary school in Mbonge Marumba, he found the struggle to secure a spot on competitive teams particularly tough against older and highly skilled athletes in Kumba. Despite these hurdles, he remained committed to obtaining a university education, recognizing the importance of balancing academics and football.

Currently, Teteh serves as a Senior Sports and Physical Education Instructor at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium, where he holds the esteemed position of Chief of Unit of Operations.
