The truck struck and killed 20-year-old Nformi Israel, a commercial bike rider from Mbohngong, Ndu, who was reportedly attempting to avoid the speeding vehicle when it ran over him.
The truck then crashed into a roadside hair salon, injuring a woman inside and a nine-month-old baby, both of whom sustained serious injuries. The truck driver is also said to have died after been ruched the Nkambe Regional Hospital Annex, alongside the other victims.
The truck driver and Nformi’s body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and assess whether mechanical failure or over-speeding played a role.
As the town mourns the loss of a young life, many are calling for stricter vehicle maintenance checks and improved safety measures on the recently completed road to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
