In the wake of the devastating floods that have struck Bamenda, leaving behind loss, destruction, and deep emotional pain, voices of compassion and unity continue to emerge from across the country and beyond.
Esther Omam, Executive Director of Reach Out Cameroon and Global Peace Champion, has expressed heartfelt sympathy and unwavering solidarity with the affected communities during this difficult time.

Addressing the people of Bamenda, she conveyed profound sorrow over the lives lost and the many families impacted by the disaster. The floods have not only claimed lives but have also displaced residents and disrupted livelihoods, leaving many struggling to rebuild and come to terms with the tragedy.
“To the families who have lost their loved ones, we extend our deepest condolences,” she stated. “No words can truly capture the pain of such loss, but please know that you are not alone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.”

Beyond the loss of life, the crisis has left many injured, homeless, and vulnerable. In her message, Esther Omam acknowledged the resilience of survivors and emphasized that their pain is shared by the wider community.

She also paid tribute to the tireless efforts of rescue teams, volunteers, and local community members who have stepped in to provide support and relief. Their actions, she noted, reflect the strength of unity and shared humanity in times of crisis.
The tragedy, she added, serves as a reminder of the urgent need for sustained support and proactive measures to better protect communities from future disasters. Strengthening preparedness and response systems remains critical in safeguarding lives and livelihoods.

As Bamenda mourns, the call for solidarity grows stronger.
“May the souls of the departed rest in peace. May comfort and strength be granted to all affected. And may we continue to stand together as one people,” she concluded.
In moments like these, compassion, unity, and collective action remain the pillars that help communities heal and rebuild.
