Students of Wisdom Comprehensive Bilingual Institute proudly showcased their talents and practical skills on Friday, March 13, 2026, as the institution joined schools across the country to observe Open Door Day organized by the Ministry of Secondary Education.
The event transformed the campus into a vibrant exhibition of creativity, innovation, and technical know-how as students from the school’s Industrial Anglo-Saxon section demonstrated what they have been learning in class.
Open Door Day is a special moment in Cameroon’s educational calendar when students present their knowledge and practical work to parents, visitors, and the general public. It also serves as an opportunity to strengthen the link between schools and the communities they serve.
At Wisdom Comprehensive Bilingual Institute, the celebration was both educational and inspiring. Students from several technical departments—including Clothing Industry, Building Construction, Home Economics, Pharmacology, Plumbing, Motor Mechanics, Sheet Metal, Electricity, Electronics, and Woodwork—displayed their projects and explained the basic technologies they apply in their training.
Visitors moved from stand to stand, discovering handmade garments, building models, electrical installations, mechanical repairs, and various technical innovations produced by the students. With confidence and enthusiasm, the young trainees explained their work, showing not only their skills but also their passion for practical learning.
The Open Door Day also served an important purpose: changing the perception of technical education. For many years, technical training was often seen as less prestigious compared to purely general education. However, events like this demonstrate the vital role skilled technicians and engineers play in national development.
By witnessing the creativity and competence of the students, many parents expressed renewed appreciation for technical education. The institution hopes such initiatives will encourage families to see vocational and technical training as a powerful pathway to employment and innovation.
Located in the Village neighborhood of Douala, Wisdom Comprehensive Bilingual Institute continues to position itself as a center for practical learning and skill development.
The Open Door Day also attracted many primary school pupils who accompanied their parents and other visitors. For these young learners, the event offered an early glimpse into the world of technical education—possibly planting the seeds for future careers in engineering, craftsmanship, and technology.
As the day came to an end, one message stood clear: the future belongs to skilled hands and creative minds. With the right training and encouragement, these young technicians and innovators may one day help build a stronger and more prosperous Cameroon.
