The clubs to participate in the 32nd finals of the 2023/24 Cup of Cameroon final have been paired against each other this Tuesday at FECAFOOT’s headquarters, Yaoundé.
The 37 Elite One and Two championships clubs will compete with the other clubs from the Regional and divisional championships in the ten regions across the country.
Of the supposed 64 clubs, UMS of Loum and Rangers FC of Bafut were ruled out for pulling out of the last edition. While Aigle Royal of Moungo who just gained promotion to Elite one, pulled out following demands made to the federation for non payment of their dues.
Fortunately for Unisport of Bafang who made a U-turn on the decision of not participating in the Cameroon Cup this Monday, barely 48 after announcing their withdrawal, their request was considered and they have been paired against Hemle FC.
Defending Champions Fovu Club of Baham who have just been relegated to Elite two, will go against the first club that qualifiers to represent the Nord region.
Seven time winners of the Cameroon cup, Cotonsport of Garoua have been paired against south regional league club Epervier de FC Ebolowa.
Last year’s runners up and 2021 champion PWD of Bamenda will face AS Dibamba, a regional club from the Littoral Region. While Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda’s opponent is yet to be known but for sure will be the club that qualifies fourth from the center region.
Reigning Elite one champions Victoria United FC of Limbe have been made to go against a regional club from Adamawa region. The other representatives from the Southwest region are ISOHSA, Cinyodev, Legend and Talented FA of Muyuka who will face Renaissance of Ngoumou, ISOHSA and Canon of Yaoundé who have won this competition the most number of times(11) respectively.
It should be noted that these matches will be played on knockout basis and may begin as early as this weekend.
Recall that, Fovu won the Cup of Cameroon last season, defeating PWD in the final to make it three titles to their credit, a 2-0 win in the final that took place at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium.
