As the ongoing crisis rocking the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon rages on, suspected separatist fighters have wrecked havoc in Buea killing atleast 3 Police Officers,and two others kidnapped.
The Police Officers from the third district police station in Muea, were ambushed by suspected Amba Boys on the night of Saturday 24 August 2024.
According to local sources, the officers on night patrol were attacked at a makeshift post near the newly inaugurated Buea Central Market(Bwitingi).
The suspected seperatist fighters had been hiding at the spot before the police officers arrived on board a white Hilux.
The killed Police Officers include 2nd grade Police Constable Laoumanga from the 2nd district police station, 2nd grade Police Constable Tabe Ayuk from the 3rd District and 1st grade Constable Beng from the Central Police Station.
No group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack but all fingers are pointing at pro independence fighters who have carried out several attacks like this in the town of Buea.
At the time of this report, there has been no official Communication from the General Delegation of National Security.
Security forces in the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon have been battling against Seperatist fighters known as Amba Boys, who want to break away the Northwest and Southwest Regions from the largely dominated french speaking to form what they call Ambazonia.
The conflict which turned bloody in 2017 has seen several casualties recorded on both sides.
Although the central government claim the situation is under control, killings and destruction of properties continue to thrive. Several parts of the anglophone regions remain ungovernable as there are still a certain level of insecurity
National and international organizations have been calling on both parties to respect human life and engage in meaningful dialogue in other to end the 7year conflict.
